Frequently Asked Questions!
I guess one of the most frequently asked questions we are asked is, as a missionary, "What does your day look like?"
That's kind of an interesting question because Greg and I are so different. Greg's day is very organized. He wakes up at 5am, prays, takes his shower, either makes breakfast or helps make breakfast, and starts Katie on her way to school. At this point he plans his day and sets out to do what must be done. That might include shopping, filling out a report, or any number of practical items, or it might include visitting someone, or praying for someone, or any number of ministerial duties. Saturdays are generally free, Sundays are like the Sunday of any pastor, the first part of Greg's the same as his weekdays, then moves into preparing himself to meet the needs of the people in the church. At this time, on Sunday mornings, because we're renting, he has to fill our Speed-the-Light van with equipment to run a church service, set up coffee, and put out advertising.
I, on the other hand, wake up 3 am, worry for an hour, pray about it, then go back to bed, when 5 am comes around I could care less if the house were on fire. Or, I might wake up at 5:00, make breakfast, shower, clean house, shop, make lunch, do some ministery, etc. Yes, the perfect day. Or, I might wake up at 2am, worry for 2 hours, pray, then go back to bed....well, you get the picture. It's not that I want to be like this.... I want to be like Greg, but no matter how I try, I never can. It has only been in the last year or two that I've begun to realize that I'm just plain different and must serve God as I am. He chose me, as he has all of you, as I am, with weaknesses and strengths, and uses me. Cool huh?
Katie, wakes up as late as possible, showers, eats, goes to school, comes home, and does homework until bedtime, except on church nights, where she ministers with us. Saturdays, homework, and rest, except when there's an evangelism, and Sundays, church ministry and rest. She will be glad when she graduates this year.
I think that's enough questions for this sitting. When I think of another I'll get back on here and write.
